Express announces potential playoff dates
March 30, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Roanoke Express News Release
ROANOKE, VA â The Roanoke Express has announced the dates for its home playoff games for the 2004 Kelly Cup Playoffs, should the team qualify for the post season. Although the Express is in second place in the division, it has still not yet clinched a playoff spot. However, the Express can do so this weekend, and if that happens Roanoke can finish anywhere from second place in the division to fourth place. Thus, there are two playoff scenarios for Roanoke:
If the Express finishes in second place in the Southern Division, and is thus the higher seed, games one and two of the first round of the Southern Division Playoffs would take place at the Roanoke Civic Center on Tuesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 8. If necessary, game five of the first round would be at the Express' practice rink, the Ice Station, on Thursday, April 15. All games will begin at 7:00 p.m.
If the Express finishes in third or fourth place in the Southern Division, and is thus the lower seed, game three, and if necessary, game four would both take place at the Roanoke Civic Center on Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13. Both games will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets for the first two home games of the first round are on sale now, and may be reserved by contacting the Roanoke Express at (540) 343-4500, or by visiting the Express offices located downtown at 14 E. Campbell Ave., directly above Metro restaurant.
The Express closes out the 2003-2004 regular season this weekend with a pair of home games. Roanoke welcomes the Charlotte Checkers on Friday, April 2 and hosts the Greenville Grrrowl on Saturday, April 3. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m. For ticket or group information please contact the Express office at 343-4500.
