Titans Bully Atlantic City 3-1
March 30, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (March 30, 2004) â The Titans came out tonight with one thing in mind: striving towards their goal of making their fifth straight ECHL playoff appearance. Mathieu Brunelle put forth a strong effort tonight with a goal and 2 assists to help beat the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies 3-1 in front of 5,832 at Sovereign Bank Arena.
The Titans first got on the board tonight while on the power play at the 11:33 mark of the first period. Matt Zultek, with two players draped over him, backhanded a pass into the slot where Brunelle knocked the puck past Amidovski low on his glove-side. As 2:53 more ticked off the clock, Atlantic City forward Nick Parillo evened the score 1-1 with a power play goal as he backhanded a rebound past Andrew Allen and into the open net
The Titans would open the period on the power play as Dave Reid was assessed a five-minute fighting major at the end of the first period. With the man advantage, Metcalf unleashed a screened shot from the point that slid through Amidovski's five-hole and proved to be the game winner. Zutlek's 35th of the season at 9:22 of the second would provide some insurance and the final score in the 3-1 victory.
Andrew Allen put forth a stellar performance between the pipes tonight, stopping all but one of Atlantic City's 29 shots, improving his record to 24-16-4 on the season. The Titans maintained a perfect record of 34-0-0 when taking a lead into the third period. The Titans magic number is now 3 points as they finish up the season at home this weekend versus Wheeling and Johnstown.
