
Stingrays Score Four Unanswered Goals to Beat Gladiators 4-3

Duluth, GA -The South Carolina Stingrays (23-7-1-3) erased a three-goal deficit to defeat the Gwinnett Gladiators (14-10-2-1) 4-3 Saturday night in front of 5,377 at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Forward Matt Fornataro scored two goals and Spencer Carbery earned two points in the victory.
The Gladiators started the scoring early in the first period with a power-play goal from Matt Francis at 2:39 from Tim Miller and Pat Galivan. Francis lit the lamp a second time at 4:43 deflecting a pass between the legs of Stingrays goaltender Todd Ford. Forward Michael Forney and defenseman Scott Marchesi registered assists on Francis' fourth of the season.
Gwinnett went up 3-0 at 13:21 of the second period off the stick of Galivan from Jason Lawrence and Scott Mifsud. The Stingrays responded with a power-play tally at 16:54 from Fornataro beating Gladiators goaltender Danny Taylor between the legs on a one-time shot along the bottom of the right-wing circle. Forwards Trent Campbell and Jake Hauswirth recorded assists on Fornataro's 16 goal of the season.
The Stingrays carried the momentum into the third period with an early goal from Carbery at 4:41 to pull the game within one. Defenseman Jay Cascalenda earned the lone assist on Carbery's sixth goal of the season. Fornataro tied the contest at three with a blast at 16:03 from Carbery and Gregg Johnson. Campbell completed the comeback for the Stingrays with an unassisted marker at 16:56 beating Taylor low glove-side for the win. Taylor finished the night stopping 29 of 33 Stingrays shots. Ford earned his ECHL-leading 16 win of the season kicking away 35 of 38 Gladiators chances. The Stingrays finished 1-for-3 on the power play while Gwinnet ended the night 1-for-5.
