Everblades Blank Checkers for Second Time in Charlotte, 3-0

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Florida Everblades blanked the Charlotte Checkers for the second time this season in Charlotte, 3-0. Mike Morrison stopped 28 Checker shots to pick up his first shutout of the season. Ross Carlson chipped in a goal and an assist to lead the way for the Everblades.

On their 13th shot the Florida Everblades converted on the power play as Matthew Pistilli converted on the power play. Pistilli whacked in a rebound off a Mathieu Roy shot to give the ‘Blades a 1-0 lead. Scott Hotham also picked up an assist on the goal. Florida outshot Charlotte 18-10 in the opening frame and were one of five on the power play while Charlotte was scoreless in two tries.

The Everblades extended their lead to 2-0 on a Ross Carlson power play tally. Carlson had scored earlier in the period but the goal was disallowed. Ernie Hartlieb and Matt Duffy picked up the assists on the goal. Florida would register seven chances on the power play in the period.

In the third, Paul Healey scored his first goal in a ‘Blades uniform on an empty net opportunity with 1:27 to play. Morrison would do the rest stopping 13 shots in the stanza to blank the Checkers. The Everblades ruined Teddy Bear Toss night in Charlotte in front of a crowd of 10,980 fans.

The ‘Blades continue their longest road trip of the season tomorrow at the Arena at Gwinnett Center against the Gwinnett Gladiators. Florida will play five games against South Division rivals before heading North one more time to take on East Division opponents in Elmira, Trenton and Reading.
