Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have acquired RW Ryan Menei (muh-NAY) from the Johnstown Chiefs in exchange for C Matthew Myers and future considerations.

Menei, 23, is in his third professional season, spent almost entirely in the ECHL. The Winnipeg native was tied for the team lead in assists (17) and fourth in points (21) on the Chiefs roster at the time of the deal, in 24 games. In 157 professional games in North America, Menei has 42 goals and 72 assists (114 points), while skating for Johnstown, the Mississippi Sea Wolves (ECHL) and Muskegon Fury (UHL). He finished 6th in scoring for Mississippi last season, despite playing only 52 games, and in his first full professional campaign in 2007-08, he ranked 2nd on the Sea Wolves with 56 points (23g-33a), while missing only one game all season.

He broke into the pro ranks in 2006-07, skating in 10 games for Muskegon at the conclusion of the season. Menei also appeared in 13 games for Asiago in the Italian League in 2008-09. The 5-11, 203-pound, winger spent three full seasons in the Western Hockey League with Saskatoon prior to turning pro, leading his team in scoring as a 20-year old in 2006-07.

What Marty is saying:

"He is a good offensive player with good skills and a great shot; He will help out our power play. After losing a couple of guys like Sexton and Sharp over the last month, he will be a good addition to our team."

Myers, 25, had a goal and three points while participating in six games with the Condors.
