South Carolina Stingrays News Release
Estero, FL - Goals by Scott Romfo, Travis Morin and Chris Chaput were enough for the South Carolina Stingrays to get their second win in as many days against the Florida Everblades, 3-2 at Germain Arena in Estero, FL.
"I was really happy with the way we played," said Head Coach Jared Bednar. "We are finally playing some consistent hockey that is really fun to watch."
In the first period, the action went back and forth, with neither team getting on the board, for the majority of the period. But with a minute and a half left, Brandon Roach scored a power play goal to give the Everbaldes a 1-0 lead. Not to be out done, Scott Romfo tied the game up at one with just :14 second left to go. The goal, his 6th of the season was assisted by Pierre-Luc O'Brien and Trent Campbell.
The second period featured move offense, and some fisticuffs as well. Travis Morin added to his club leading goal total, getting his 19th goal of the season. The goal came on the power play from Mike Gabinet and Pat McNeill. They would increase their lead to 3-1 when Chris Chaput got his 12th goal of the year form Sean Collins and Matt Reid at 11:20. Roach would score again for Florida to cut the lead to 3-2 at 12:56.
The third period came and went without any goals, and the final was 3-2 with the Stingrays getting their 6th straight win.
The winning goaltender was Davis Parley who stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced. The losing goaltender was Justin Peters who stopped 25 of the 28 shots he faced. The Rays went 1-7 on the power play while killing off five of the seven short handed situations they faced.
The Rays are back in action on Tuesday night in the final game of this three game series against the Everblades. Game time will be at 7:30.
