Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - Luke Curtin and Oren Eizenman both scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Fresno Falcons to a 6-1 win over the Idaho Steelheads on Friday in front of 4,723 fans at Save Mart Center.
The Falcons got off to a quick start, outshooting the Steelheads 16-7 in the first period, and taking a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Fresno's power play got the ball rolling as Tyler Kindle converted on a man-advantage opportunity 9:32 into the game. Kindle pinched in from the blue line, and flipped a shot past goaltender Kellen Briggs on the far post for his sixth goal of the season.
Curtin doubled the lead to 2-0 at 15:06. Curtin took a pass from Brady Leisenring in the right-wing circle, and one-timed a shot past Briggs for his fourth of the year.
The Falcons added one more goal late in the period for the 3-0 lead. Kenny Bernard took a cross-ice pass from Eizenman, skated down the left-wing side, and beat Briggs off the backhand for his sixth goal of the year at the 19:00 mark.
P.O. Beaulieu added to Fresno's lead with his eighth goal of the season 7:55 into the second period. Beaulieu joined a scramble in front of the Idaho net, and swatted a puck out of midair past Briggs to give the Falcons a 4-0 lead.
Idaho got on the scoreboard 3:49 into the third period. Lance Galbraith dug the puck free at the top of the crease, and Marty Flichel flipped the puck over Jake Moreland's glove for his eighth of the year. The goal ended Moreland's home shutout streak at 127:06
Fresno answered with its second power-play goal of the night 5:56 into the third to regain its four-goal lead. Eizenman skated to the top of the right-wing circle and snapped a shot past Briggs' blocker for his team-leading 22nd goal of the season.
Matt Stefanishion scored his 10th of the year at 10:32 to extend the lead to 6-1. He took a pass from Jarrett Konkle on the far post, and had his initial shot stopped by Briggs before poking the rebound home.
Fresno, which outshot Idaho 49-21, improves to 22-11-5 on the season with the win.
