Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers outshot the Cyclones 39-28, but were unable to score a goal against Cedrick Desjardins as the Cincinnati Cyclones blanked the Nailers 2-0 Saturday night at WesBanco Arena. Desjardins picked up his league-leading fourth shutout of the season.

The Cyclones put their first goal on the board 17:12 into the first. Matt Syroczynski picked up his own rebound off a feed from David Desharnais shot and put the puck over Curtis Darling's shoulder for his 14th goal of the season and third in the last two games.

The lead doubled halfway through the second period on Andrew Martin's tally. Wheeling turned the puck over in the offensive zone and Cincinnati quickly turned it around for a rush of their own. On a two-on-one, Ehgoetz slid the puck over to Martin in the slot for his fifth of the season at 9:59.

Curtis Darling stopped 26 of 28 shots in the loss and held the Cyclones scoreless for the final 30:01 of the game.

The Nailers hit the road for a 4:00pm game in Trenton on Sunday before returning to their home ice next Friday and Saturday against the Cincinnati Cyclones and the Charlotte Checkers. Visit www.wheelingnailers.com for ticketing information or call 304-234-GOAL.
