Pack chases Catters, comeback falls short

BILOXI, MS - Jason Tejchma potted a pair of goals in the second period, but it wasn't enough as the Texas Wildcatters held on for the win in the second game of a three-in-three series at Ford Arena in Beaumont, Texas on Saturday evening.

Texas opened the scoring midway through the first period when John McNabb fired the rebound of Troy Riddle's shot past Sea Wolves goalie Morgan Cey at 8:02. The Wildcatters added a second just 1:44 later when Kevin Baker tipped John Adams' turnaround wrist shot past Cey at the 9:46 mark.

The Wildcatters opened up a 3-0 lead just 48 seconds into the third period when Max Taylor redirected Tim Cook's shot past Cey. Jason Tejchma got the Sea Wolves on the board when took a cross-ice feed from Lance Monych and fired it past Texas goaltender Anton Khudobin at 8:42 of the second period. Tejchma notched his second of the game at 13:56 of the second when he banged home the rebound of Mark Rooneem's shot to draw the Sea Wolves within one.

The Sea Wolves had a late third period power play when Texas' Tim Cook was called for interference, but were unable to score on the man-advantage to tie the game at three. Texas withstood a late flurry as the Sea Wolves stormed the crease with Cey off for the extra attacker.

Mississppi was 1-for-6 on the power play, and Morgan Cey made 34 saves taking the loss.
