
Stingrays Get Boost with Return of Shea, Addition of Ciccarello

?NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), have added defenseman Jordan Ciccarello to the roster, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today. The club also announced that defenseman Bobby Shea has been returned from the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hershey Bears.
Ciccarello, 25, has spent time with the Florida Everblades and Louisiana Ice Gators of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) this season. With Florida, Ciccarello appeared in 14 games, registering two assists. With Louisiana, he notched five assists in nine games. The 6-foot, 210-pound defenseman is a native of New Hartford, CT.
Ciccarello has worked his way up the minor league hockey ladder, skating in the Federal Hockey League (FHL) with the Danbury Whalers in 2014-2015 before spending time with Louisiana, as well as the ECHL's Elmira Jackals and Greenville Swamp Rabbits last season. In total, Ciccarello has appeared in 30 ECHL games, registering three assists.
Ciccarello will wear #26 for South Carolina.
Shea, 25, has appeared in 31 games for the Stingrays this season, registering 12 points (three goals, nine assists) and posting a +14 mark on the season. He skated in three games during his recall to Hershey, registering one assist.
The native of Harrison Township, Michigan was a member of the Reading Royals 2013 Kelly Cup Championship team. Last year, Shea split time with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers, scoring 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 36 games, and the Bulldogs, where he notched five points (one goal, four assists) in 24 games.
South Carolina is on the road tonight in Atlanta for a 7:35 p.m. puck drop. Fans may catch the game at the official Watch Party at King Street Grille-Northwoods. The Stingrays are back home this Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17 versus Alaska.
