ESTERO, FLORIDA - For the second straight night, the Brampton Beast ran into a hot goaltender as Anthony Peters made 37 saves for the Florida Everblades and helped them to a 5-1 win over the Beast at Germain Arena on Friday night.

Tim Billingsley scored the lone Beast goal in the third period and new Beast goaltender Jordan Ruby played better than the numbers would suggest and made 23 saves between the pipes for Brampton.

The teams played an evenly-matched first period, with Florida holding a slight 12-11 edge on the shot clock. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening frame. Ruby kept his team in the game early, and kicked out several high-quality scoring chances to keep the game scoreless after 20 minutes.

Even though the Beast outshot the Everblades 10-7 in the second period, the home team lit the lamp three times in the middle frame.

Ryan Martindale opened the scoring on the power play at 5:09 as he found himself alone in front of Ruby.

Matt Willows finished off a nice passing play for his 14th goal of the season at 6:41, pushing the lead to 2-0.

The Beast and Everblades traded chances during a fast-paced second period, but Florida pushed the lead to 3-0 late in the frame as Justin Agosta lit the lamp at 17:38.

The Beast came out flying early in the third period and were quickly rewarded for their tenacious play. Tim Billingsley had a puck land on his stick just steps in front of Everblades starter Peters and managed to beat the goaltender through the pads to cut the lead to 3-1 at 8:46. Tim Bozon and Scott Jacklin each earned an assist on the play.

The Beast dominated play in the third frame and outshot the best team in the Eastern Conference 17-9, but the Everblades proved why they're one of the top teams in the ECHL and netted two more in the second half of the final period.

Maxime St. Cyr picked up his second goal of the weekend at 10:38 before Corey Cowick notched his eighth goal on the power play at 17:31 to end the scoring.

Peters picked up the 'W' with another stellar performance and stymied the Beast and allowed just one goal on 38 shots. Ruby performed admirably for the Beast and finished with five goals allowed on 28 shots.
