
Solar Bears' Road Win Streak Snapped at Five Games in 5-2 Loss

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Orlando Solar Bears (16-15-2-3), proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, saw their five-game road win streak snapped following a 5-2 loss to the Fort Wayne Komets (20-11-2-0) in front of a crowd of 8,111 on Friday night at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
Rylan Schwartz opened the scoring for the Solar Bears following a Fort Wayne turnover in the corner, as the puck was fed directly into the slot for Schwartz to fire past Pat Nagle at 3:16.
The Komets found the equalizer at 5:00 when Garret Meurs banged home a rebound past Rob Madore.
The hosts took the lead when Alex Belzlile rifled a one-timer from the high slot into the net at 13:00.
Fort Wayne's special teams went to work in the second period, as Brett Perlini netted a power-play marker at 10:04, and then Nikita added a shorthanded tally at 13:28.
Schwartz brought the Solar Bears back to within two goals when he capitalized on another Komets turnover and beat Nagle at 17:15.
Mike Embach scored another power-play goal for Fort Wayne at 10:05 of the third period to put the game away.
Madore took the loss with 34 saves on 39 shots against; Nagle earned the victory with 27 stops on 29 shots against.
