South Carolina Stingrays News Release
WATCH PARTIES AT KING STREET GRILLE-NORTHWOODS
King Street Grille-Northwoods has become the Watch Party Destination for Stingrays road games during the 2015-2016 season, including tonight's game. Fans 21 and up may enjoy a special offer of $3 Drafts, including Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Shocktop and Landshark during all Stingrays Watch Parties at King Street Grille.
THE MATCHUP
The South Carolina Stingrays finish a four-game road trip this evening as they battle the Atlanta Gladiators. This is the fifth matchup of the season between the two teams with each club winning a pair of games. South Carolina forward Brett Cameron has four points (two goals, two assists) in the four games versus Atlanta this season. South Carolina enters tonight's game having lost two straight contests away from the North Charleston Coliseum, falling 4-2 at Adirondack last Saturday and 3-1 at Reading on Sunday afternoon.
RETURN OF THE DOUBLE DEUCE
Fan favorite Patrick Gaul is expected to return to the Stingrays lineup this weekend. Gaul sustained a broken jaw on November 13 when he blocked a slapshot against the Orlando Solar Bears. Gaul, who is in his fourth year with the Stingrays, missed 23 games with the injury. In 13 games this season, Gaul has notched a goal and an assist.
MIGHTY MULVEY
Forward Colin Mulvey has been on a tear of late for South Carolina and now leads the team with 11 goals. Mulvey, who started the season in and out of the lineup, has five goals in his last four games. He scored a pair of goals in the Stingrays 4-2 loss to Cincinnati on January 3, and also notched two goals in South Carolina's 5-1 win at Adirondack last Friday.
DOMINATING DEXSHOW
Goaltender Mark Dekanich has been strong for the Stingrays all season, but the netminder has enjoyed an exceptional start to 2016. He is 2-1-0-0 in three starts this month, posting a sensational 1.68 goals-against average, and a .948 save percentage. He is 1-1-0-0 versus Atlanta in three appearances, including a 39 save shutout on the road on November 21.
NUMBERS DON'T LIE
If the Stingrays lead after two periods of play this season, the chances they earn the victory are high. On the other hand, it they trail after 40 minutes, they're usually on the wrong side of the contest. South Carolina is 17-1-0-0 when leading after the second period, but 0-11-1-0 when trailing after the second period.
The Stingrays are back home this Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17 versus Alaska. Saturday is our Trident Health Adult Jersey Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans and Sunday is Frozen Day, featuring the princesses and the snowman from the movie in attendance plus $5 Kids Tickets and $5 Kids Meals as part of the Crews Subaru and Charleston County Parks Family Days. Tickets information is available at StingraysHockey.com.
Tickets to both games this weekend are available via Ticketmaster online or at the North Charleston Coliseum Box Office.
