North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (2-4-0-3) fell to the Florida Everblades (6-1-0-1) 6-3 at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday night, snapping a two-game point streak.
The Everblades opened the scoring 2:14 into the contest when forward Chris Kishneriuk slipped a shot from between the faceoff circles past goaltender Adam Morrison (L, 28 saves on 34 shots).
Stingrays forward Wayne Simpson tied the contest at 4:19 of the second period catching a pass from forward Jack Downing for a breakaway and beating netminder Allen York (W, 32 saves on 35 shots) past the blocker. The Everblades took a 2-1 lead at 7:38 when forward Cory Trivino lifted a rebound past Morrison. Moments later, the Everblades were awarded a penalty shot when defenseman Michal Cajkovsky threw his stick and Trivino capitalized at 8:53 for a two-goal advantage. Defenseman Tyson Gimblett made it 4-1 at 14:21, but the Stingrays bounced back at 16:54 on the power play as forward Joe Devin blasted a backdoor feed from forward Cody Sylvester inside the left post of York. Forward Jack Downing added the second assist.
With nine seconds remaining in the third period, Stingrays forward Brendan Gracel buried his first professional goal off a crease scramble from defenseman Marcus Perrier and forward Derek DeBlois, but the Everblades added two tallies earlier in the frame from defenseman Mike Little (10:44) and forward Gabriel Desjardins (11:48 on the power play) to seal the victory. Both sides finished the game 1-for-5 on the power play.
