November 7, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kansas City Mavericks News Release
Independence, MO (November 7, 2014) - The stage is set for the Missouri Mavericks sixth home-opener in franchise history at Independence Events Center.
The Mavericks are the last team in the ECHL to host their first home game this season, facing off against the Rapid City Rush on Saturday, November 8th at 7:05pm (CST) at the IEC.
Prior to the start of the game, the team will unfurl three distinct honors before a packed house, recognizing the Mavericks as the last Bud Poile Governors' Cup Champions for their 2013-14 forty-four (44) game winning season atop the CHL, their fourth consecutive "Franchise of the Year" award as a member team of the CHL, and the home team of the "Best Fans" in the CHL.
"We are excited to open our home schedule on Saturday in front of a capacity crowd." said Brent Thiessen, President & General Manger of the Missouri Mavericks. "It's time for a new era of hockey in Kansas City and Independence," said Thiessen.
The Mavericks host the Rapid City Rush on Saturday night in their home opener. Face-off at the Independence Events Center is scheduled for 7:05 PM (CST), with a special pre-game pep rally hosted by the City of Independence and Independence Events Center beginning at 4:00pm (CST) outside the East doors of the IEC. Fans can participate in the "ultimate fan" contest for a chance to win a cash prize, and greet the entire team in a special "orange carpet" entrance.
