CINCINNATI - In the first of nine head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel were defeated by the Cincinnati Cyclones by a final score of 3-1 on Friday at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati. With the loss, the Fuel fell to 2-4-2-1 overall this season and with seven points, dropped to sixth place in the ECHL's North Division standings.

After a rough-and-tumble first period slid by scoreless, the Fuel broke the ice with a Brett Perlini power-play goal, the former Michigan State forward's second of the season, at 6:43 of the middle stanza with Mathieu Brisebois and Mike Duco collecting assists on the play. Cincinnati battled back less than three minutes later, however, as Josh Shalla scored off an offensive zone faceoff at 9:13 to tie the game at one heading into the final period of play.

In the third, the Cyclones grabbed their first lead at 6:36 thanks to a shorthanded goal from Byron Froese before a final-minute empty-net goal from Stephan Vigier sealed Cincinnati's 3-1 win.

In his third appearance for the Fuel this season, Indy goaltender Mac Carruth made 20 saves in defeat while Rob Madore claimed victory in the Cyclones' cage thanks to a 16-save performance.
