HEAD TO HEAD- This is the first of nine meetings between the Thunder and the Rush. All-time, Wichita is 15-27-5 against Rapid City and 6-13-3 on the road.
RED HOT - Jared Walker has continued his season-opening point streak to five games. Walker has scored six points so far this season (4g, 2a) including a multi-point game against Allen to open the year. Stephen Schultz and Ian Lowe have tacked on five points each as well. All five of Lowe's points are from assists, while Schultz has two goals and three assists.
FAMILIAR FACES - A pair of players will see their former teams tonight. Thunder goaltender Tim Boron, who spent the last four seasons in Rapid City, will see his old team while Nick McParland plays against Wichita for the first time. Boron won 30 games last year with the Rush. McParland spent his rookie season in the Air Capital last year.
CLAMPING DOWN - Since giving up 11 goals in the first two games of the season, the Thunder defense has clamped down. Wichita has given up just five goals over the last three contests while scoring eight themselves. The Thunder are 16th in the league in goals against per game (3.20) and 11th in goals for per game (3.20).
A RUSH OF GAMES - Wichita is prepping to face Rapid City three out of the next four games. After tonight, the Thunder host Missouri on Sunday afternoon before heading out of town for a pair of weekday games in the Black Hills. Wichita travels to Rapid City four times this year and hosts the Rush five.
400 - Rapid City coach Joe Ferras will appear in his 400th regular season game behind the Rush bench. In his time as the bench boss in the Black Hills, Ferras boasts a 220-141-38 record, and a 28-18-5 postseason record, including two conference titles and the franchise's lone CHL Championship.
RUSH NOTES - Dylan Clarke assisted on the first three goals last Sunday and scoring one, capping off a team-high four-point night...Rapid City has scored a power play goal in four-straight...Danny Battochio is tied for fifth in wins (3), fourth in goals against (2.15) and sixth in save percentage (.915)...Landon Oslanski and Dalton Reum renew their family rivalry as the two cousins square off tonight...Jesse Schultz had 11 points (4g, 7a) last season against the Thunder with a +12 rating...
THUNDERBOLTS...Jared Walker is tied for 13th in goals scored with four...Wichita is second in shots against per game (25.80)...The Thunder penalty kill moved up to 13th overall, (83.3%) and hasn't allowed a power play goal in the last 11 tries for the opposition...Wichita is 2-0-0-0 when tied after one...Wichita is 1-0-0-1 when outshooting the opponent...Wichita is 1-1-1-0 when outshot by the opponent...Wichita is 2-1-0-0 in two-goal games...Wichita is tied for third place in points, but is ahead of Rapid City in winning percentage (.600)...
