Countdown to Face-Off: Kalamazoo Wings vs Elmira Jackals

Tonight is the third of four meetings this season between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Elmira Jackals. During the opening weekend of the season the teams split a pair of games with identical 6-2 victories at the First Arena.

After playing six of their first seven games away from Wings Stadium, the K-Wings will begin a season-long five-game home stand. With nine points Kalamazoo is in second place in the North Division and trails the division leading Fort Wayne Komets by three points.

Tonight is the second stop of a three-game road swing for the Jackals. Elmira began the trip with a 3-2 victory on Wednesday against the Evansville IceMen. Lafranchise Return On Wednesday the K-Wings swapped defenseman with the Utica Comets. Defenseman Kane Lafranchise was reassigned to Kalamazoo, while Utica called-up John Negrin.

Home Sweet Home

After starting the season by playing six out of their first seven games away from home, the K-Wings will finally get to spend some time at Wings Stadium. Starting tonight, Kalamazoo will commence a season-long five-game home stand.

Seventh Heaven

Forward Curtis Valk enters tonight on a K-Wings' season-high seven-game point streak. On Wednesday Valk, who leads all ECHL rookies in scoring with 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists), was named the CCM ECHL Player of the Month for October.

Defenseman Isaac Macleod has had a "positive" influence on the K-Wings. Macleod leads the team and is tied for second among all ECHL rookies with a plus/minus rating of plus-seven.
