Quad City Mallards News Release
BRAMPTON, Ont. (November 7, 2014) - Mario Lamoureux and Joe Perry provided two goals and one assist apiece and Parker Milner made 43 saves as the Quad City Mallards (4-3-0-0) overpowered the host Brampton Beast (0-5-1-0) 7-2 Friday night. The win was the Mallards' second in as many nights over the Beast in Brampton.
The Mallards had to recover from a slow start before eventually pulling away. Brampton's Jason Pitton scored the game's first goal from the top of the right wing circle at 9:05 of the first period and the Beast went on to outshoot the Mallards 22-9 in the first but the Mallards would rebound with a pair of goals late in the opening frame to grab the lead. Lamoureux tied the score at one when his centering pass was deflected home by a Brampton skate 18:33. With just 15 seconds left before the intermission Jeff Lee tapped in the tie breaker from the crease. Milner was superb in enabling his teammates to turn the tide by making 21 saves in the opening 20 minutes.
The Mallards took control with three second period goals. Lamoureux tipped in his second at 3:04; Todd Fiddler's tip-in chased Brampton starting goaltender Trevor Cann at 10:43 and Matt Duffy's point blank power play strike made it five at 17:26.
The Beast was on the power play Calin Wild finally responded to the Mallard onslaught by pouncing on a rebound at 9:37 of the third period, but Perry would deliver two goals in just over three minutes to cap off the victory for the Mallards. He drove the puck past Brampton relief netminder Grant Rollheiser from the slot at 11:33 before banking the puck in off a foe at 14:40.
The Mallards and Beast meet again Sunday in Brampton. The Mallards next play at home Wednesday, November 19 at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. Fans can purchase four tickets to any Mallards Wednesday home game for just $20. In addition, after each Wednesday home contest, fans can join the Mallards at T.G.I.
