South Carolina Stingrays News Release
The South Carolina Stingrays opened the 2010-11 season on the road against the Gwinnett Gladiators and the Greenville Road Warriors for a week record of 1-1-0-0. The Stingrays traveled to The Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday and grabbed an early 1-0 lead thanks to forward Nikita Kashirsky, but the Gladiators lit the lamp four times in the second period in route to a 6-2 victory. Kashirsky picked up the second marker for the Stingrays midway through the third period. Sunday marked the first ever meeting between the Stingrays and the Road Warriors. Greenville jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the second period, but couldn't hold on as defenseman Josh Godfrey, forwards Maxime Lacroix, Matt Scherer and Kashirsky found the back of the net for a 4-2 win. Godfrey had a three-point night (1g, 2a) and goaltender Jared DeMichiel earned his first professional win stopping 27 of 29 Road Warriors shots.
