WHEELING, WV - The Pittsburgh Penguins have reassigned right wing Nick Petersen from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), it was announced on Monday.

Petersen appeared in three games with the Penguins, going scoreless. The 21-year-old native of Wakefield, Quebec spent last season with the Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL) where he posted 79 points (39G, 40A) in 59 games, finishing third on the team in scoring.

The 6-2, 189-lb. winger also posted 119 points (48G, 71A) in 119 games over the two prior seasons with the Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL).

Petersen was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth round (121st overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
