Salmon Kings Assigned Prab Rai

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that Vancouver contracted forward Prab Rai has been re-assigned to the team by the Canucks via Manitoba.

The native of Surrey, BC will begin his professional career with the Salmon Kings this season after completing a five-year junior career in the Western Hockey League (WHL) split between the Seattle Thunderbirds and Prince George Cougars. Rai is coming off a 2009-10 campaign in Seattle that saw him score a career-best 69 points (41g-28a) in 67 games with 20 minutes in penalties. Rai's 69 points topped all Thunderbird skaters, as he was named to the WHL's Second All-Star Team.

The 20-year-old forward has participated in 300 career WHL games, amassing 228 points (98g-130a) while serving 115 penalty minutes. Rai has also seen action in 24 career WHL Playoff contests, registering four goals and nine assists for 13 points while accruing four minutes in penalties.

The 5-11, 191 lb. Rai was selected in the fifth round (#131 overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks.

The Salmon Kings return home to open their home-schedule of the 2010-11 regular season at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre this Wednesday October 27, Friday October 29 and Saturday October 30 to take on the Ontario Reign. Game time for all three games is 7:05 p.m. Throughout the duration of next week's series, the team will be holding a silent auction for select game-worn Salmon Kings' jerseys. A special live auction will also take place following the Saturday game in the main concourse of the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, where fans will have the chance to bid on various game-worn jerseys, as well as Peter Vandermeer's navy blue jersey he wore during his introductory press conference!
