BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads lost 4-2 to San Diego tonight before 4,640 at the Bank of America Centre, and fall to 2-6-1 against the Gulls this season. Idaho trailed by two goals in the second period and rallied back to tie the game, but San Diego's goal early in the third turned out to be enough to secure the win.

San Diego scored on the power play at 11:46 of the first. Samy Nasreddine's shot was redirected over Idaho goaltender Blair Allison's stick by Brian Gornick. Idaho outshot the Gulls 9-7 in the first frame, but could not solve Gulls goalie Trevor Koenig.

On a failed Idaho pass at center ice early in the second period, the Gulls gained the puck and Gornick got a shot off. The puck hit the post, and Clayton Read was there to pick up the rebound and before Allison could recover, Read found the back of the net. The Gulls second tally came at 1:56. Idaho scored its fifth shorthanded goal of the season when Dylan Gyori skated the puck down the left boards, and passed to Jeff Bateman who one-timed it past Koenig at 15:55. Just over a minute later, Idaho tied the game with a bizarre goal when Koenig tried to clear the puck from behind his net, but instead passed it out to Lance Galbraith who scored into the wide open net.

The Gulls took the lead for good early in the third with another power play goal, Read's second of the night, on a shot that beat a screened Allison five-hole at 3:44. With 1:28 remaining in the game, Idaho pulled its goaltender for the extra attacker. San Diego's Sylvain Deschatelets put the game out of reach with a shot from the San Diego goal line into the vacant Idaho net.

Idaho closes out its home season tomorrow night, with a 7:05 game against the Gulls.
