IceGators Fall to Sea Wolves 2-1
March 26, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
Biloxi, MS â The Louisiana IceGators dropped their third straight game tonight with a 2-1 loss to the Mississippi Sea Wolves. The IceGators are 46-20-2, and now have just a five-point lead over the Sea Wolves in the Central Division standings.
The Sea Wolves shot out of the gate in the first period when newly-acquired defenseman Nic Bilotto collected a rebound and stuffed it past IceGator Frederic Cloutier for his first goal in a Sea Wolves sweater. The early goal, coming at 1:33, was the only tally of the first frame.
Louis Dumont gave a repeat performance to open the second period when he scored at the 1:39 mark. Cloutier came out his net to clear the puck and missed. Dumont pounced on the puck and shot it into the open net.
Konstantin Kalmikov scored the lone goal for the IceGators, spoiling the Sea Wolves shutout bid with his 22nd of the year. Bruce Richardson cleared the puck up to Rod Sarich at the blue line. Sarich blasted the puck toward the net, where Kalmikov was able to redirect it past the near post. The IceGators kept the pressure on Sea Wolf Greg Gardner, but the Goaltender of the Week stymied the Gators on 29 of their 30 shots. Cloutier stopped 33 shots, including the 16 thrown at him during the final frame.
The IceGators return to Lafayette for a two-game series with the Gwinnett Gladiators, starting Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Saturday is Pack the Dome Night. If the Cajundome sells out, beer and sodas will be 25 cents during the game. Pack the Dome Night also kicks off Fan Appreciation Weekend, which will feature lots of prizes and give-aways. Fan Appreciation Weekend will conclude on Sunday, with the second game against Gwinnett at 4:05 p.m.
