Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria, Ill. (March 26, 2004) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that sixth-year goaltender Mike Valley has returned from call-up with the Manitoba Moose â the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks.
Valley â a 6-foot-1, 185-pound native of Richmond, British Columbia â served as a back-up goaltender to Rob McVicar in Manitoba's 5-2 road loss to the Rochester Americans on Sunday and a 4-1 road win over the Binghamton Senators on Wednesday. It was his third call-up to the AHL this year. With Peoria's AHL affiliate â the Worcester IceCats, the 27-year-old netminder registered a victory in each of his two earlier call-ups with a 1.95 goals against average (GAA) and a .913 save percentage.

Valley left the University of Wisconsin after his sophomore season (1997-1998) to sign with the Canucks, spending parts of his first two seasons with their former AHL affiliate â the Syracuse Crunch.
