ANCHORAGE, Alaska â The Alaska Aces have signed rookie winger Adam Huxley as they prepare for the final five games of the regular season and a first round playoff series against the San Diego Gulls.
Huxley arrives in Anchorage fresh out of junior âA' hockey, where he spent three years in the Western Hockey League crashing and banging on the wing for Saskatoon and Seattle. As a 20-year-old this season with the Seattle Thunderbirds, Adam racked up 221 minutes in penalties in 62 games while contributing four goals and 10 assists. Huxley, a six-foot, 195-pounder out of Wainwright, Alberta, spent the previous two years with the Saskatoon Blades, piling up 384 PIM as well as five goals and eight assists in 129 games. He was not born in 1984 (11/4/83).
Alaska Aces playoff tickets are on sale now, with the first home game scheduled for Friday, April 9, at 7:00 p.m. against the San Diego Gulls, which will be Game Three of a best-of-five first round series in the Pacific Division. Game Four, if necessary, will be played at Sullivan Arena Saturday, April 10, at 7:00 p.m. Games One and Two of the series will be held at the San Diego Sports Arena Tuesday and Wednesday, April 6 and April 7. If a fifth and deciding game in the first round becomes necessary, San Diego would play host to Alaska at the Sports Arena Tuesday, April 13. Alaska (35-27-5) leaves tomorrow morning to finish out its regular season with five more games on the road, beginning in Long Beach Sunday at 4:00 p.m. AST. The Aces went 3-2-1 on a six-game swing through the Southeast last week. All remaining games, including playoffs, will be broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM, as well as www.alaskaaces.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
