
Steelheads announce 2005 playoff roster

BOISE, Idaho - The ECHL's defending Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads today announced its 2005 playoff roster. Per ECHL rules, the playoff roster lists no more than 20 active players, and also includes two players on the 7-day injured reserve list and four who are on the 30-day injured reserve list.
Goaltenders include 2005 All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Frank Doyle who ends his first professional season tied as the ECHL's league-leader in wins with 32. Newcomer Matt Yeats, who has three years of professional experience in the ECHL, AHL and NHL (5 games Washington Capitals), will pair up with Doyle, providing a solid goaltending duo.
Forwards include Steelheads leading scorer Bobby Russell, Ben Keup, Scott Burt, Mike Stutzel, Frank Lukes, Warren Peters, Justin Cox, Landon Bathe, Tim Verbeek, David Bararuk, Andrei Vasilyev, Lance Galbraith, Jim Leger (7-day IR), Marty Flichel (30-day IR), Darren McLachlan (30-day IR), and David Morisset (30-day IR).
Defensemen include team captain Dan Vandermeer, Darrell Hay, Evgueni Nourislamov, Jonathan Zion, Peter Metcalf, David Cornacchia, Petr Suchanek (7-day IR), and Jeremy Mylymok (30-day IR).
Of note: Nine players listed on this year's playoff roster were also on the Steelheads Championship team last season - Keup, Burt, Peters, Bararuk, Vasilyev, Galbraith, Vandermeer, Hay, and Cornacchia.
Idaho will play Game 1 of the best-of-five National Conference West Division first round contest Wednesday evening at 8:30 MDT in Long Beach against the Ice Dogs. Game 2 is also in Southern California, with the third game at the Bank of America Centre Saturday night at 7:10 MDT.
