Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today they will hold a jersey auction to benefit autistic programs at St. Luke's*Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Services during this week's three-game series against the Alaska Aces. The Steelheads will wear the jerseys during warm ups Wednesday and for the games on Friday and Saturday.

The jerseys are blue and white and adorned with the Steelheads logo and an autism awareness ribbon. In the background are puzzle pieces, which have become a symbol for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Research has not yet found a cause or cure for ASD, and there is much unknown about the disorder, thus leaving the puzzle unsolved.

Statistics show 1 in 150 children is diagnosed with ASD. St. Luke's*Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Services, a not-for-profit 501-c3 organization, have programs that treat pediatric patients who fall within the Autism Spectrum Disorders.

"To us, these children are much more than a number," said Jean Mutchie, Director of Marketing for SLIERS. "As a team of therapists, a spontaneous hug, a glimmer in a child's eye and a shared moment with others are the milestones that make us love what we do."

The Steelheads kick off their final six home games of the regular season beginning tonight against the Alaska Aces. Tickets are still available for the three-game series against the Aces by calling 331-TIXS, by visiting www.idahosteelheads.com (using the print-at-home feature), or by stopping by the Qwest Arena box office.
