Dayton Bombers News Release
Dayton, OH - As the Dayton Bombers take on the Johnstown Chiefs on Saturday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m. at the Ervin J. Nutter Center, the team will wear special jerseys promoting Ronald McDonald House.
The authentic, game worn jerseys will be auctioned off immediately following the game by Bombers auctioneer, Jim Tietge, on the Verizon Flight Deck. All of the proceeds raised will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Dayton, whose mission is to provide a 'home away from home' for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.
This is the Bombers fourth charitable jersey auction of the season. Most recently, the Fisher/Nightingale Houses were the beneficiary of more than $9,000 from the Bombers jersey auction on Friday, March 10.
Saturday also marks the Bombers annual "Bucky's Birthday Bash," celebrating their mascot, Bucky, the Flying Squirrel. Mascots from across the Miami Valley will be in attendance, including Ronald McDonald, the Frisch's Big Boy, Chick-Fil-A Cows, and Sinclair Community College's Tartan Pride. A pre-game party will take place on the Mountain Dew Flight Deck, complements of Ponderosa. Clowns, providing face painting and balloon animals, will be on the Deck for the duration of the game. The American Cornhole Organization will have games set up as well.
During an exclusive pre-game reception in the Berry Room, the Dayton Hockey Hall of Fame will honor its induction class of 2007, which includes the 1975-76 Turner Cup Champion Dayton Gems, Bombers and Gems off-ice official Jim Wheeler, and local longtime hockey equipment retailer, Mrs. Pauline Greene. Current members of the Hall of Fame will also be in attendance at the reception. Call 775-4747 to order tickets.
The Bombers are pleased to host special guests Jody Shelley of the Columbus Blue Jackets and former Bomber fan favorite, Alex Johnstone on Saturday. Shelley and Johnstone will attend the Hall of Fame reception, and then greet Bombers season ticket holders on the Verizon Flight Deck during the game.
