-SPIKES TRAVEL TO STATEN ISLAND:The State College Spikes continue their 10th Season today as they enter the back half of a six-day road trip, featuring the first interdivisional action on the 2015 slate. The Spikes open up a three-game series with a matinee contest against the Staten Island Yankees at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. The Spikes are currently 2-0 on the road trip after sweeping a pair of games from Mahoning Valley before a rainout yesterday, and look to keep a 21-inning scoreless streak going today. State College is 13-14 all-time against the Yankees, including a 4-8 mark at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

-LAST GAME: Dailyn Martinez delivered seven scoreless innings in an outstanding mound performance, and the State College Spikes posted consecutive victories for the first time in 2015 with a 5-0 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers at Eastwood Field on Friday night. Martinez gave up a first-inning single to Anthony Santander, then retired the next 15 batters he faced until walking Ka'ai Tom in the sixth. The right-hander gave up just two hits and two walks total while striking out three batters on the evening. Martinez also worked efficiently, throwing 77 pitches, 51 of them for strikes. Jacob Evans, the Cardinals' sixth-round draft choice of Oklahoma this year, retired all six batters he faced, one via strikeout, to finish off State College's victory in his pro debut. Jose Godoy knocked in a pair of runs on the night, while Thomas Spitz reached base three times in the game, twice by walk.

-PEREZ SEEKS SECOND WIN OF YEAR: Right-hander Luis Perez gets the ball tonight for State College. Perez earned the Spikes' first victory of the year on Monday against Auburn at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The San Felipe, Venezuela native threw five innings and gave up one run on seven hits while striking out one. Perez was part of Johnny Rodriguez's championship-winning staff at Rookie-level Johnson City last year, pitching a gem in Game 1 of the Appalachian League Championship Series against Danville, striking out a career-high 10 batters over six innings for the win. The 20-year-old righty also faced 191 battters without allowing a home run while with the 2013 Gulf Coast League Cardinals.

-YANKEES SEND ESPINAL TO HILL: Right-hander Yoel Espinal will get the ball for Staten Island today. Espinal is making his first start after a pair of relief appearances to begin his 2015 campaign with the Yankees. Last time out, the Santiago Rodriguez, Dominican Republic native allowed three runs on three hits and a walk over 3 1/3 innings, but got the win at Connecticut on Wednesday. Espinal has struck out seven batters and walked four so far this summer. The righty began this season at Single-A Charleston, going 3-1 with a 2.79 ERA over 17 appearances covering 29 innings.

-MAKING MOVES: The Spikes welcomed two new players to State College as outfielder Craig Aikin and infielder Josh Swirchak joined the club Tuesday. Aikin, the Cardinals' 13th-round draft choice this year out of Oklahoma, played three games in three nights in three different locations to begin his professional career. Swirchak, who signed with the Cardinals as a non-drafted free agent out of Wilmington (DE) University shortly after the draft concluded, also came from Johnson City, and is still yet to make his Spikes debut.

-SPIKE MARKS: Today marks the first day game of the year for the Spikes...The Spikes' 21-inning scoreless streak is their longest since a 26-inning streak last August...The club record is 28 straight shutout frames, set from July 23-26, 2010...The final pitcher for Mahoning Valley three nights ago was Ryan Perez, the 2nd switch-pitcher the Spikes have ever faced...Perez, Cleveland's 12th-round draft choice in 2015 out of Judson University, only faced one batter and so did not use both arms...The last switch-pitcher to face the Spikes was future major leaguer Pat Venditte of the Staten Island Yankees on Aug. 13, 2008...Mike Pritchard has not struck out yet in 32 plate appearances this year
