
IronBirds Defeat Batavia, 3-2

Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
The IronBirds won the first game of a six game homestand by defeating the Batavia Muckdogs 3-2. After allowing one run in the first inning, the IronBirds settled in by responding with runs on the fourth and seventh innings to win their first home game of the season.
Leading Off
The Muckdogs scored first after Anfernee Seymour reached on an infield single to lead-off the inning. Seymour then stole second and third base before scoring on a sac-fly by Stone Garrett.
And the See-Saw Starts
Randolph Gassaway drew a walk to start the inning. Ronarsy Ledesma reached first base on an error by the pitcher Jordan Holloway. Gassaway moved over to second base on the error. Steve Laurino singled, advancing Gassaway to third and Ledesma to second. Oswill Lartiguez reached first base on an error, scoring Gassaway from third, while Laurino and Ledesma advanced. With the score tied at one, Jerry McClanahan singled home Ledesma giving the IronBirds the 2-1 lead.

With two outs, Garrett hit a triple into the left-center gap. Korey Dunbar singled home Garrett evening the score to 2-2.
Saw
With one out, Guillermo Salas reached first on a fielder's choice. Salas then scored on a double by Ademar Rifaela. Rifaela drove a ball to the wall in left, allowing the go-ahead run to score.
'Bird Strikes
The 'Birds' pitchers struck out 12 Muckdogs on Sunday night. Six of the 12 batters went down looking. Luc Rennie and Tanner Scott both collected five strikes a piece. Patrick Baker closed the game with two strike-outs respectively.
Error, Error, Error, Error
The teams combined for a total of four errors...Three errors were committed by Batavia and one error by Aberdeen... Two errors committed by Batavia Pitcher Holloway allowed Aberdeen to score two runs in the fourth inning.
'Bird Watching
Luc Rennie pitched a season-high four innings in tonight's contest against the Muckdogs... Rennie also had a season-high five strikeouts... Patrick Baker picked up his first career save while recording two strikeouts...Baker tossed two scoreless innings, going one-two-three in both innings. Lartiguez, McClanahan, and Rifaela each recorded an RBI.
