
Crosscutters Stay Undefeated in Ninth Game by Going 10

The Williamsport Crosscutters continued their historic start to the 2015 season on Sunday in Mahoning Valley. The Cutters won their ninth consecutive game to start the 2015 season with a 5-3 win against the Scrappers in 10 innings. The Crosscutters have won the third most consecutive games in their franchise history. Williamsport found themselves on top early taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jose Pujols drove in Zach Coppola with a RBI single after Coppola lead of the game with a single of his own.
Jose Taveras struggled with his command in his second start of the season for Williamsport. The Crosscutters would get three innings out of Taveras before having to turn to the bullpen. Taveras allowed just one hit while surrendering an unearned run. Taveras walked three batters and struck out three as well.
Austin Bossart gave the Cutters their third lead of the game 3-2 .in the top of the eighth inning. With the bases loaded Bossart hit a ground ball towards the shortstop that lead to an out at second base but a run to score at home. Mahoning Valley would rally one more time in the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo home run. Williamsport would need extra inning for the second time this season to decide a game.
Untimely errors by the Scrappers helped to fuel the Cutters 10th inning rally as they plated two runs to take a 5-3
lead. William Cuicas brought in the Cutters fifth run of the game with a groundout to second base. Williamsport used five pitchers in the game with Jason Zgardowski picking up the win after pitching the eighth and ninth innings. Anthony Sequeira earned his first save in a Cutters uniform tossing a perfect 10th inning.
