Texas Stars News Release

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars Foundation announced on Friday a successful food drive over the last two days in a partnership with H-E-B and BOB FM to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank.

The food drive ran from Wednesday, October 19 through Thursday, October 20 at the Cedar Park Center. Over the 48-hour span, the H-E-B Food Drive brought in a total of 1,866 pounds of food or the equivalent of 1,418 meals. As part of the drive, one lucky fan was recognized for the single-largest donation. After donating a total of 128 food items, Liann B. will receive an 11-game mini-plan to see the Stars play at Cedar Park Center.

As part of the festivities on Thursday night, Capital Area Food Bank volunteers were on hand to answer questions throughout the drive. Prior to the opening face-off, Capital Area Food Bank President & Chief Executive Officer Hank Perret, as well as Laura Estes, H-E-B's Director of Marketing for the central Texas region, participated in the ceremonial puck drop.

Fans who still wish to receive a ticket discount for a food donation may do so on H-E-B Nights at Cedar Park Center. Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday home game of the 2011-12 Texas Stars season is an H-E-B Night. In conjunction with H-E-B's and the Stars' community efforts, every fan who brings a non-perishable food item to the Cedar Park Center box office will receive a $5.00 discount off the regular ticket price.

Over the last three seasons, the Texas Stars and H-E-B have teamed up to run a season-long campaign. In that time, the two have partnered to collect more than 3,421 pounds of food for the Capital Area Food Bank, which provided over 2,548 meals for Central Texans in need.
