ST. JOHN'S, NL - Sound Tigers captain Jeremy Colliton scored the game-winning goal with a deflection at 2:44 of overtime, and Anders Nilsson made 30 saves as Bridgeport knocked off the St. John's IceCaps 4-3 at Mile One Centre in St. John's, Newfoundland on Friday night. With the win, the Sound Tigers even their record at 3-3-0-0. The IceCaps fall to 3-2-0-0.

Justin DiBenedetto continued his hot start to the 2011-12 season and put the Sound Tigers up just 1:58 into the game. Sean Backman's initial shot was stopped by Mannino, but DiBenedetto crashed the net and knocked the rebound home for his sixth goal of the season. The Sound Tigers lead lasted until the 10:02 mark of the period, when Jason King slapped a rebound past Sound Tigers goaltender Anders Nilsson to even the score at one.

DiBenedetto put the Sound Tigers back on top at 13:47 of the period during the power play. Ty Wishart skated the puck into the right circle and fired into the slot where DiBenedetto deflected it low past Mannino. It was DiBenedetto's American Hockey League leading seventh goal of the year and the Sound Tigers were back up 2-1. However, Jason Gregoire deflected a point shot at the 18:00 mark of the opening frame, and the Sound Tigers and IceCaps were tied 2-2 after 20 minutes.

The Sound Tigers spent much of the second period in their own zone, forced to kill three minor penalties. Nilsson and the Sound Tigers penalty kill unit were up to the task and killed off all six minutes of penalty time. The IceCaps outshot the Sound Tigers 13-7 in the middle frame, but neither team found the back of the net in the second period and the two sides were still tied 2-2 headed to the third period.

The IceCaps took their first lead of the game just 49 seconds into the third period. During a 4-on-4, the IceCaps broke out of their zone on a 2-on-0 rush. Spencer Machacek slid the puck to his right to Riley Holzapfel, who one-timed it past Nilsson's glove to give the IceCaps a 3-2 lead. But the Sound Tigers responded with 2:50 left in regulation. Jeremy Colliton fired on net from a sharp angle and Chris Langkow's rebound attempt was initially stopped, but Davild Ullstrom knocked the loose puck home to even the score at three and send the game to overtime.

In the overtime, Ullstrom freed the puck from behind the IceCaps net and sent it up to Aaron Ness, who slid the puck to Calvin de Haan above the left circle. de Haan waited, then centered the puck to the high slot where a cutting Colliton deflected it past Mannino for the game-winner.

Sound Tigers close their two-game series with the IceCaps tomorrow at the Mile One Centre at 6:00 ET.
