DENIED BY DANIS: OKC goalie Yann Danis recorded the team's first shutout of the season on Sunday by stopping all 28 shots against Houston in a 2-0 win. Danis played both home games last weekend, allowing just 1 goal on 56 shots, a 0.50 goals-against average and .982 save percentage.

PK HEATS UP: Since surrendering 4 power play goals in 8 times short in the season opener at Texas

Oct. 9, the Barons are 15-for-16 on the penalty kill in the past 3 games, all wins. The PK is 10-for-10 in the last 2 games, both at home, and has killed off 15 straight times short dating the last power goal allowed on Friday at San Antonio.

CORNET TAKES CHARGE: Second-year pro Philippe Cornet scored both OKC goals in the 2-0 win over Houston on Sunday and has a team-high 3 goals, all in the past 2 games. Leading point-getter Ryan Keller (6 points) and Josh Green (5) each have 3-game point streaks, the longest by a Baron so far this season.

SHOTS, PART 1: The Barons have been out-shot in 3 of their 4 games so far and are averaging a league-low 23.25 shots on goal per game. The only game where OKC out-shot the opposition was Saturday, when the Barons scored on 10 of 33 shots against Texas while facing 28 Stars' shots. In the past 2 games, the Barons have lit the lamp 12 times on 49 shots, a shooting percentage of 24.5.

SHOTS, PENALTY: Ryan Keller took the first penalty shot of the Barons' season on Sunday when he was upended on a breakaway by Houston's Nate Prosser. Keller was stopped by Dennis Endras. In its brief history of 84 regular-season games, OKC has taken 4 penalty shots and has yet to score. Alex Giroux had two and Ben Ondrus one last season.

ODDS AND ENDS: Gilbert Brule has missed the last 3 games with an upper body injury...Kevin Montgomery, who became a free agent after finishing last season with the Barons, played his first 2 games of the year at any level last weekend after being signed to by OKC to an AHL deal...Montgomery is returning from shoulder surgery resulting from a playoff injury

ON THE TUBE: Defenseman Colten Teubert will be this week's guest with head coach Todd Nelson on "Barons Weekly," Monday from 6-7 pm at Buffalo Wild Wings on the Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City. The program airs live on AM 1340 The Game and is replayed on Thursday at 2 pm.
