Stampede Dropped at Home by the Spurs

Boise, Idaho (January 27, 2015) - The Idaho Stampede were beat at home by the Austin Spurs 108-95 Tuesday night. San Antonio Spurs assignment Kyle Anderson recorded a game-high 27 points and 13 rebounds for Austin.

The action went back and forth in the first half, as Anderson and Stampede forward Jerrelle Benimon ended the second quarter with 15 points each. Austin took a 52-45 lead into halftime and came out in a zone defense in the third quarter. The Spurs led by as many as 16 in the period before Joel Wright scored six points to bring the deficit down to 12 entering the fourth. But the San Antonio Spurs rookie Kyle Anderson scored 10 points down the stretch, putting the game out of reach for the Stampede.

Jerrelle Benimon (18 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks) and Jack Cooley (18 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks) each recorded double-doubles. Joel Wright pitched in with 18 points off the bench. Shane Gibson contributed 13 points and a season-high seven rebounds.

In addition to Anderson's 27 points, Jonathan Simmons posted 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for the Spurs. Six of the eight players that saw action scored in double figures for Austin, who shot 49 percent from the field as a team.

The two teams will play start at two-game series in Austin on Friday, Jan. 30, starting at 7 p.m. MT.
