MANCHESTER, NH - Center Linden Vey tallied four assists to lead the Manchester Monarchs over the Albany Devils, 7-4, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night.

Manchester (17-15-2-2) is tied with the Providence Bruins (18-13-0-2) place in the Atlantic Division with 38 points each. The Devils (13-12-1-6) and the Connecticut Whale (15-17-3-0) are tied for third place Northeast Division with 33 points each.

"Yeah, we kept bouncing back so credit our guys with execution when it mattered," said Monarchs Head Coach Mark Morris. "Unfortunately, we couldn't weather the storm when we were two men down and I thought Peter (Mannino) struggled in the game. I don't think he was as sharp as we've seen him but I think he'll rebound. He's a great competitor. We could have used a few saves there when we were shorthanded, but they were good shots."

Monarchs right wing Brian O'Neill scored at 4:29 of the third period making the score 5-2. Left wing David Meckler won a battle along the right wing half wall and fired a bad angle shot on goal that deflected off of O'Neill and squeaked behind Devils netminder Jeff Frazee for the eventual game-winning goal.

The Monarchs opened the scoring with a goal by left wing Tanner Pearson at 13:46 of the first period. Vey passed the puck to defenseman Bryan Rodney at the top of the left wing face-off circle. Rodney faked a shot and skated to the bottom of the left wing face-off circle before ripping a centering pass to Pearson in front of the net. The puck deflected off of Pearson's stick and into the net for his eighth goal of the season.

Albany tied the game at 1-1 with a goal by center Steve Zalewski at 18:28 of the first period. Right wing Joe Whitney took the initial shot from the slot and gathered his own rebound at the right door step. Whitney fed a centering pass that deflected off goaltender Peter Mannino and in front of the net. Zalewski tipped the puck into the open net for the goal. Center Corbin McPherson also recorded an assist on Zalewski's fifth goal of the season.

Monarchs right wing Tyler Toffoli scored at 14:20 of the second period making the score 2-1 in favor of Manchester. Vey passed the puck to defenseman David Kolomatis who took a wrist shot from the right point. Toffoli tipped Kolomatis' shot and put it in the net high on the glove side of Frazee. Pearson also recorded an assist on Kolomatis' sixth goal of the season.

Manchester took the lead 3-1 at 16:12 of the second period when Pearson scored his second goal of the game. Toffoli broke in on a two-on-one break before wristing a shot from the slot producing a bouncing rebound in front of the net. Pearson poked the puck just over the goal line for his ninth goal of the season.

At 19:34 of the second period, the Monarchs opened up a three goal lead at 4-1 when center Andrei Loktionov scored his eighth goal of the season with the team on the power play. Rodney carried the puck from the top of the left wing face-off circle to the bottom of the circle before slipping a pass back to right wing Brandon Kozun in the slot. Kozun flipped a pass over to Loktionov for a one-timer from the right wing face-off dot. Loktionov's one-timer blasted into the back of the net for the goal.

The Devils got back a goal at 4:14 of the third period from defenseman Adam Larsson on the power play. Left wing Harri Pesonen passed the puck from the left point to Larsson at the right point. Larsson took a slap shot that beat Mannino high on the stick side for the goal. Right wing Matt Anderson also recorded an assist on Larsson's fourth goal of the season.

Left wing Mattias Tedenby made the score 5-3 with a four-on-three power play goal at 8:09 of the third period. Zalewski passed the puck from the center point to Anderson inside the left wing face-off circle. Anderson threaded a hard pass to Tedenby for the one-timer beating Mannino for the goal.

Pesonen scored on the power play at the 10 minute mark of the third period to pull the Devils within a goal at 5-4. Anderson gained the zone down the middle before feeding defenseman Jay Leach at the right point. Leach carried the puck down the boards and to the bottom of the right wing face-off circle before backhanding a pass to Pesonen inside the left wing face-off circle. Pesonen settled the puck and wristed a shot for the final goal scored by the Devils and his sixth goal of the season.

Monarchs center Jordan Weal scored his third goal of the season on the power play at 12:31 of the third period. Defenseman Thomas Hickey passed the puck to Vey at the top of the right wing circle. Vey skated inside the right wing face-off circle as he sent a pass across to Weal in the left wing face-off circle. Weal wristed a shot high on the glove side for the goal.

Toffoli finished off the scoring with an empty net goal at 19:38 of the third period. Pearson took a pass from defenseman Andrew Campbell and broke out of the zone in front of the benches on the left wing. Pearson fed Toffoli at center ice springing him free to finish the play with his 18th goal of the season.
