Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - For the second time in three starts, Penguins' goaltender Brad Thiessen posted a shutout as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton held on for a 1-0 win over the Hershey Bears at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.

Working on their first power play of the game, the Penguins notched the only goal of regulation at 12:57 of the opening period. With Jayson Megna setting the screen in front of the Hershey net, Brian Dumoulin's point shot sailed past the right side of goalie Dany Sabourin.

Chances would be limited for both teams through the remainder of the contest, but Wilkes-Barre/Scranton killed off two Hershey man-advantages in the second half of the third period to preserve the win.

Six days after making 30 saves in 3-0 victory over Worcester, Thiessen stopped all 23 he faced this evening for his second shutout of the season. Sabourin turned aside 20-of-21 for the Bears.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins close out their three-game home stand on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:05PM against the Adirondack Phantoms. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a Tom Grace Talking Bottle Opener, courtesy of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Individual seats for all Penguins' home games are available at the Mohegan Sun Arena box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com, and by calling 800-745-3000.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton season ticket packages, including 12-game and Flexbook plans, are available by contacting the Penguins directly at 570-208-7367.
