Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Rochester, New York - The Rochester Americans defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-2 on Friday night at Blue Cross Arena. Four Americans each had two points while Mark Mancari scored the winner.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 2:12 of the opening frame on a power-play tally by Jason DeSantis, his first as a 'Dog. DeSantis took a slapper from right point which flew past Rochester Americans staring goaltender David Leggio. With an assist on the play, Joey Tenute earned his first point as a Bulldog playing in his first game with Hamilton.
The Americans tied the score just 54 seconds later at 3:06 of the first period on a power-play marker by Brian Flynn who picked up a loose puck in front of the net and fired it by Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Robert Mayer. The Amerks took a 2-1 lead on a blast by T.J. Brennan from the top of the near circle which soared over the shoulder of Mayer.
Rochester took a two-goal lead just 55 seconds into the middle stanza on a goal by Mancari. Mayer stopped the original shot but Mancari picked up the rebound out in front of the net and buried the puck past Mayer. The Americans made the score 4-1 on Nick Tarnasky's seventh goal of the season at 8:58 of the second frame. Luke Adam took a shot from a tough angle which was stopped by Mayer and Tarnasky picked up the loose puck and jammed it in past the Hamilton goaltender.
The Bulldogs cut the lead down to two as Gabriel Dumont picked up a loose puck in front of the net and slid it between the legs of Leggio just 11 seconds into the third period. The goal was Dumont's team-leading 12th of the season and ninth in his past 14 games.
The Amerks made it 5-2 at 6:21 of the third frame as McNabb took a shot which was blocked by Patrick Holland. The puck bounced back to McNabb who blasted a shot by Mayer. The Americans outshot the Bulldogs 28-19.
