B-Sens Fall to Phantoms in Shootout, 3-2

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators fell to the Adirondack Phantoms tonight at home, 3-2, in a game that went all the way to a shootout.

After a scoreless first period, the Phantoms opened the game's scoring with back to back goals in the second. Forward Matthew Ford, assisted by Brandon Manning and Rob Bordson, netted his second season at 4:19. At 10:33, Manning doubled Adirondack's lead with assists by Bordson and Ford.

The B-Sens answered back with two goals of their own in the latter part of the second frame. Defenseman Patrick Wiercioch scored his tenth ringer of the season with the lone assist credited to Andre Benoit. Binghamton would then tie the game at two on defenseman Mark Borowiecki's goal at 18:40 with assists from David Dziurzynski and Mark Stone.

The score remained the same through the third, forcing a sudden death overtime that would ultimately lead to a shootout. Phantoms defenseman Danny Syvret scored the shootout's only goal in the fifth round to send Adirondack home with the extra point.

Ben Bishop started in goal for the B-Sens making 30 saves through regulation and overtime before stopping four of five Phantoms in the shootout. Cal Heeter tended goal for the Phantoms making 44 saves through regulation and overtime, before stonewalling all five Binghamton shooters in the shootout to secure the victory.

The B-Sens host the Norfolk Admirals tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $19 for side seating and $18 for end seating.
