Last Time Out
St. Louis CITY SC earned a convincing 3-1 victory over Supporters' Shield contender Nashville SC last Saturday, ending a two-match winless streak. Defender Jaziel Orozco opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, slipping a shot inside the near post for his first career MLS goal. Klauss, the team's leading scorer, doubled the lead after finishing a well-placed pass from Eduard Löwen. Sangbin Jeong then sealed the win with his first goal for CITY SC. Nashville pulled one back with a late penalty, but it was not even enough to change the result.
St. Louis CITY SC vs Chicago Fire FC
The rivalry between these two sides is still young, with just two previous meetings in the regular season before this weekend's clash. In their inaugural season, CITY SC lost 1-0 to Chicago at Soldier Field, but bounced back last season with a 3-1 win at home, thanks to a brace from Klauss. Since joining the league in 2023, St. Louis holds a 7-7-4 record against Eastern Conference opponents.
New Players Settling In
St. Louis brought in three new faces during the transfer window, with Sangbin Jeong and Devin Padelford arriving from Minnesota United and Fallou Fall joining from Fredrikstad. The recent match against Nashville marked Fall's MLS debut and the first time all three newcomers featured together for CITY SC. Padelford notched his first assist for the club, while Sangbin opened his scoring account. Fall made an immediate impact defensively, finishing the night with an 86% pass accuracy, four recoveries, four duels won, and three tackles won.
Scouting Chicago Fire FC
Chicago Fire FC currently sits ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 10-9-6 record. They have struggled at home to some degree, holding a 3-4-5 mark at Soldier Field. The Fire are on a four-match unbeaten run and have posted two shutouts in their last three matches. Hugo Cuypers leads the team with 18 goals, while Philip Zinckernagel has added 10 goals and a team-high 12 assists.
