North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays gave up five unanswered goals, including four of them on the playoffs, en route to a 5-2 loss to the Florida Everblades at the North Charleston Coliseum.

"We just got complacent," said Head Coach Jared Bednar. "I really like the way we came out tonight, but we just gave them too many opportunities in the second period."

In the first period the Rays got out early and took a 1-0 lead Maxime Lacroix's third goal of the season. He was fed a great pass from line mate Michael Dubuc at 3:55 with the other assist going to Zach Tarkir. They would increase their lead to 2-0 when Tommy Maxwell got his third goal of the year from Josh Godfrey.

The lead was short lived when Kyle Peto got the Everblades on the board with his first goal of the season, a power play tally. After a miscue behind the net which led to a turnover, Ryan Lang got a shorthanded goal, their second of the season, to tie things up at two. Florida built on their momentum when Ryan Carlson got his third goal of the season, on the power play, to take the lead for Florida. They would make it a two goal lead when Kevin Baker got his second goal of the season, another power play goal.

Early in the third period the Everblades made it 5-2 when they got their fourth power play goal of the night, the second goal from Baker on the night. South Carolina nearly tripled Florida's shots on goal in the period, but they could not get anything past Anton Khudobin.

The winning goalie was Khudobin who stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced. The losing goalie was Josh Johnson who stopped 23 of the 28 shots he faced. The Rays went 0-5 on the power play while killing off two of the six short handed situations they faced.

The Rays will be back in action on Thursday when they take on the Southern Division leading Charlotte Checkers. Game time will be at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum.
