Elmira, NY- There were more than tricks and treats at First Arena last night as the Elmira Jackals beat the Idaho Steelheads 3-2 in sudden death overtime. The "Worlds Largest Halloween Party" was home to a thriller and again Wes Cunningham was the overtime magic man.

Scoreless through the first period the Jackals found themselves out shot 14-6. The Steelheads kept the pressure on in the second period netting a goal at the 8:42 mark, Brett Nelson from Riley Weselowski. The Jackals evened the score at 1-1 on a power play goal from Pierre-Luc Faubert. Brandon Roach and Tyler Donati assisted at the 13:29 mark.

The Jackals took a 2-1 lead at the 10:51 mark of the third. Benoit Doucet made a beautiful move to beat Steelhead goaltender Rejean Beauchemin. Pierre-Luc Faubert and Ryan Gibbons would assist on the play. Late in the third the Steelheads would even the score at 2-2 on a Brent Shepheard goal. 60 minutes of action wouldn't be enough, so sudden death overtime would be in store.

The Jackals pressured the Steelheads for most of the overtime period outshooting Idaho 6-0. The Jackals would send First Arena into a frenzy at the 4:40 mark of the extra frame. Pierre-Luc Faubert set a perfect pass onto the stick of Wes Cunningham, Cunningham then skated in and let loose on a quick snap shot that beat Beuachemin low blocker for the win.
