
Wranglers Silence Thunder 5-1

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Stockton Thunder 5-1 in front of 3,381 fans at the Orleans Arena on Friday night. Center Chris Ferraro scored a goal and set up two more in the Wranglers win. Goalie John DeCaro snagged his first win of the season by stopping 20 of 21 Stockton shots. Forward Tyler Mosienko scored a goal and also added an assist in his return from the injured reserve list. Defenseman P.J. Atherton, as well as forwards Chris Neiszner and Chris Korchinski also scored in the victory. Las Vegas will play in Phoenix on Monday at 6:05 PM (PST).
The Wranglers jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Mosienko set up the first goal of the night at 5:14. Mosienko sent a cross-ice pass to Chris Neiszner for a one-timer. Neiszner sent a shot past Stockton goalie Bryan Pitton for his second goal of the season and a 1-0 Las Vegas lead. Las Vegas doubled the lead at 18:30 as Mosienko scored his first goal of the season for the 2-0 lead.
Las Vegas continued to build the lead in the second period. Forward Chris Korchinski snapped a shot from the high-slot at 7:39 for his second goal of the season and 3-0 Wranglers lead. With a delayed penalty call coming against Stockton, Las Vegas capitalized to increase the lead to 4-0. Defenseman Mike Madill set up Chris Ferraro's second goal of the season with a pass to the right-wing circle. The veteran center ripped a one-timer past Pitton for the four-goal Las Vegas lead. Stockton cut the lead to 4-1 before the end of the period. Forward James Bates beat John DeCaro with a backhand at 17:42.
Las Vegas finished the scoring at 6:05 of the third period. Center Chris Ferraro picked off an errant pass in Thunder zone and set up P.J. Atherton's first goal of the season for the 5-1 final.
The team will travel to Phoenix for a game with the RoadRunners on Monday, November 2nd at 6:11 PM (PST) at U.S. Airways Center. Las Vegas will return home to host Bakersfield on Friday, November 7th at 7:30 PM and Phoenix on Saturday, November 8th at 7:30 PM.
