South Bend Cubs Add Infielder Josh Silver

BOWLING GREEN, KY - Josh Silver has joined the South Bend Cubs active roster after signing with the Chicago Cubs organization Sunday.

Silver comes to South Bend after a hot start at the plate for the River City Rascals of the independent Frontier League.

The 26-year old through 20 games for River City was hitting .455 with five home runs and 19 runs batted in while slugging .701.

Silver joined River City during the 2015 season and hit .263 with a home run and 17 driven in.

The California native started his college career in 2009 at San Jose State where he hit .377 in 69 at-bats. Silver left San Jose State and spent the next couple of years out of college.

He returned to chasing his baseball dream in 2012 where he joined Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, California where he batted .335 with 30 runs batted in.

Following 2012, Silver was offered a scholarship to play baseball at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Silver batted .384 with the Flames in 2013 and .263 in 2014.

The South Bend Cubs face the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Bowling Green Ballpark tonight at 5:05pm(ET).
