DAVENPORT, IA - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers were shutout 12-0 by the Quad Cities River Bandits Monday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The River Bandits had 16 hits in the game and went 10-for-22 with runners in scoring position as they defeated the Rattlers in game one of the three-game series.

Wisconsin (30-34) had a few chanced early in the game. Isan Diaz singled with two outs in the first. Monte Harrison walked with two outs in the second. Luis Aviles doubled to start the third. All three Rattlers were left stranded.

Quad Cities (28-35) got their scoring started in the third inning singed with five straight singles against Wisconsin starter Devin Williams. Connor Goedert singled and moved to second on wild pitch. Christian Correa followed with an RBI single. Arturo Michelena would single. Then, Osvaldo Duarte singled to knock in Correa. Keach Ballard singled to load the bases. Kristian Trompiz made the first out of the inning, but knocked ion a run with a sacrifice fly and the Bandits were up 3-0.

The River Bandits scored twice without the benefit of a hit in the fourth. Williams walked the first three batters he faced and an error on a grounder off the bat of Correa scored a run. Later in the inning, Williams threw a wild pitch to allow a run to score.

Quad Cities added seven more runs in the game off reliever Jordan Yamamoto. They scored four in the fifth inning. Anthony Hermelyn doubled in two runs. Then, Correa had an RBI double and Michelena added an RBI single. Pat Porter, who was on base four times in the game, doubled with two outs in the sixth to knock in a run. Goedert accounted for the final two runs of the game with a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the eighth.

Justin Ferrell, the starter for the River Bandits, allowed three hits over five innings and picked up the win. Albert Abreu, struck out six over four innings to get the save. The only hit Abreu allowed was a two-out double in the ninth inning to Harrison.

The Rattlers were shutout 1-0 by Kane County on Sunday and have not scored a run in their last 20-2/3 innings.

Wisconsin also saw their very slim playoff hopes become even slimmer with their loss. The second place Clinton LumberKings defeated the division leading Peoria Chiefs 9-2 on Monday. The Rattlers trail Peoria by six games with six games remaining in the half and since the Chiefs won the first half series from Wisconsin, Peoria holds the tie-breaker. Wisconsin trails Clinton by 5-1/2 games and the LumberKings have seven games left in the half. The LumberKings have the tie-breaker on the Rattlers so Wisconsin would need to win all of their remaining games in the half while the LumberKings would need to lose all of their remaining games with the three teams between Wisconsin and Clinton also losing a lot of games.

The second game of the series is Tuesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Marcos Diplan (5-1, 1.89) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. The River Bandits have named Jose Hernandez (0-2, 4.67) as their starter. Game time is 7:00pm.

The radio broadcast is on 1280 AM, WNAM starting with the pregame show at 6:10pm. The game is also available on the internet through IHeartRadio, TuneIn, and MiLB.TV.
