DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits used a combination of hot bats and strong pitching to take a 12-0 win in the series opener over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Monday night at Modern Woodmen Park. All nine Bandits in the lineup recorded a hit while Justin Ferrell and Albert Abreu combined to shutout the Timber Rattlers. Christian Correa plated three runs and scored twice and Arturo Michelena had three hits with an RBI and run scored to lead the River Bandits attack.

Despite the 12-0 win, the Bandits (28-35) were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in the first half of the Midwest League season due to a win by the Clinton LumberKings earlier in the evening.

Ferrell (2-3) bounced back from a six-run effort in his last start for five scoreless innings on Monday to secure the win over Wisconsin (30-34). The righty scattered three hits while striking out two. Abreu collected a save, tossing four scoreless innings while striking out five and giving up just one hit, which came with two outs in the ninth inning.

The Bandits broke a scoreless contest in the third frame. Connor Goedert led off with a single and moved to scoring position on a wild pitch. Christian Correa drove him in with a RBI-single. Arturo Michelena reached on an error and Correa was able to cross the plate. Osvaldo Duarte extended his hitting streak to ten games with a single that scored Michelena and put the Bandits on top 3-0.

Quad Cities continued the scoring with a two-run fourth. Walks to Pat Porter, Anthony Hermelyn, and Goedert loaded the bases with no outs. Correa reached on an error that scored Porter. A wild pitch allowed Goedert to touch home, putting the Bandits ahead 5-0.

Four more would score in the fifth frame. Dexture McCall collected a one-out single to start the offense. Porter followed with a single and reached scoring position with his second stolen base of the game. Hermelyn scored both with a double and was later plated on a single from Correa. Michelena knocked a RBI-single to score Correa and cap off the four run fifth, giving Quad Cities a 9-0 advantage.

The Bandits reached double digits in the run column in the sixth. Kristian Trompiz singled and scored on a Porter double to make it a 10-0 lead for Quad Cities over Wisconsin. Quad Cities continued to pour on runs in the eighth. Keach Ballard led off with a single and McCall notched a one-out single. The two would score on a double from Hermelyn, putting the River Bandits by a dozen.

Devin Williams (1-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on four hits over four innings. The right-hander walked five and struck out five in his start for Wisconsin. Jordan Yamamota allowed five runs over four innings of relief for the Timber Rattlers.

The Bandits send RHP Jose Hernandez (0-2, 4.67) to the mound against RHP Marcos Diplan (5-1, 1.89) . Jake Levy and Lance Ragland will have the call and the LLOYD Agencies Pregame Show starting at 6:45 p.m. on 1170 AM K-BOB in the Quad Cities, and on RiverBandits.com or the TuneIn app anywhere, simulcast on MiLB.TV.
