Peitzmeier Joins Cubs, Norwood to DL

DAYTON, OH - Pitcher Tyler Peitzmeier has been assigned to the South Bend Cubs active roster while pitcher James Norwood has been placed on the disabled list.

Peitzmeier was selected out of Cal State-Fullerton by the Chicago Cubs in the ninth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.

The 23-year old left-handed pitcher started his professional career in 2015 by throwing a scoreless inning in Mesa for the Cubs Rookie League Team. The Nebraska native then pitched in 12 games at Eugene in the Northwest League and posted a record of 2-3 with a 5.94 earned run average over 16 and two-thirds innings.

As a member of the Cal State-Fullerton baseball program, Peitzmeier finished ninth all-time in career saves with 17. Peitzmeier in 2015 was second in the NCAA with 16 saves while delivering a 2.56 earned run average in 59 and two-thirds innings.

Norwood was placed on the disabled list retroactive to June 11.

The right-handed reliever in 19 games has a record of 3-1 with a team leading five saves and a 3.75ERA.

Norwood was a 2014 seventh round pick of the Chicago Cubs out of St.Louis University.

The South Bend Cubs visit the Dayton Dragons tonight at 7:00pm(ET).
