South Bay Lakers News Release
STOCKTON, CA - The South Bay Lakers battled all night long, but ultimately fell to the Stockton Kings, 126-118, on Saturday night. Devontae Cacok's 27-point, 15-rebound double-double paced the Lakers (18-24), but an 18-rebound differential was too much for South Bay to overcome. Kyle Guy finished with 32 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds for Stockton (23-19) in the win.
Stockton took an early 10-point lead, 37-27, after one, behind 15 points from Guy. The Lakers came back in the second quarter to take a 60-55 halftime lead as Reggie Hearn and Talen Horton-Tucker combined for 14 points in the frame and the Lakers held the Kings to only 18 points in the quarter.
The Kings regained the lead through three, 93-88, as Robert Franks scored 12 points in the third quarter alone. Marcus Graves and Kevin Young scored seven points apiece in the fourth quarter for Stockton, to outpace the 12 points in the frame from David Stockton and the 11 fourth-quarter points from Cacok and grab the victory.
Guy's near triple-double guided Stockton to the win and Franks finished with 27 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Young led the Stockton bench with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double and Eric Mika grabbed an identical double-double of his own. Cody Demps scored 18 points and Isaiah Pineiro rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Cacok's 26th double-double of the season led the way for South Bay, while Stockton tallied 20 points and four assists. Horton-Tucker ended his night with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists, as Hearn recorded 15 points and six rebounds. Marcus Allen finished in double figures off the bench with 10 points.
South Bay now heads to face the Agua Caliente Clippers on Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00pm from the Toyota Arena in Ontario, CA.
