CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Austin Spurs (24-17), presented by SWBC, defeated the Oklahoma City Blue (20-21) by a final score of 117-114 on Sunday afternoon at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
San Antonio Spurs assignee Chimezie Metu recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks in 36 minutes, while Dedric Lawson posted his tenth double-double of the season with 33 points (12-15 FG, 4-6 3FG, 3-5 FT) and 10 rebounds in 38 minutes. Galen Robinson Jr. added 21 points, 6 assists and 2 steals in 34 minutes, while Daulton Hommes finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds in 36 minutes.
By the end of the first quarter, the Spurs held a slight six-point advantage over the Blue, leading 35-29. The Spurs started the second quarter on a 25-9 run to establish their largest lead of the game at 22 points (60-38). The Spurs went into the half leading by 15 points at 74-59. As a team in the first half, the Spurs shot .600 from the field (30-50) and .476 from the three-point line (10-21), helping them score 74 points in the half.
The Blue outscored the Spurs 33-24 in the third quarter, cutting the Spurs advantage to 6 points (98-92). With 4:28 left in the final quarter, the Blue took their first lead since the opening minutes of the game at 111-110. The Spurs proceeded to outscore the Blue 8-4 in the final minutes of the game, helping the Spurs secure the victory.
For the Blue, Kevin Hervey led the team in scoring with 22 points and 5 assists in 29 minutes, while Kadeem Jack finished with 8 points and 21 rebounds in 28 minutes of play. Five other Blue players finished in double-digit points: Scotty Hopson (19), DeVaugh Akoon-Purcell (18), Myke Henry (12), Devon Hall (10) and Abdul Gaddy (10).
